Hi there, my name is Justin (aka Jrsmith) and I’m the artist. I’m super grateful that you have taken the time to visit my site. Thank you so much! Here’s some more info about me.
I grew up in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City, Bluffdale to be exact. From a very early age, I loved all art and all sports. I went through stacks and stacks of paper for drawings and lost tons of wiffle balls to the neighbor’s yard.
I attended Bingham High School where I took advanced art classes and played on the baseball team. In art I was particularly good at drawing faces/portraits. While in high school I was first commissioned to do a pastel portrait. I was recruited to pitch for the baseball team of a local college, where I began my degree in business management and continued to accept commissioned art through all of it.
I still remember when I was younger people telling me to never stop drawing, no matter what profession I choose. I made the commitment then to stick with it no matter what - to never let it become a chore, and to never lose my love for it.
Class reunions have come and gone. I still have a major crush on my high school sweetheart who I am now married to and have 5 sons with (all 5 play baseball competitively, among other sports). I’m still in Utah in a fast-growing town called Saratoga Springs. And I am still sticking to that drawing commitment.
I spent some time painting skiers up on the slopes of Utah. During that time I met some awesome people who have reached out to me. I have work hanging up in a ski rental shop in Park City. A gallery in Park City reached out to me. I’ve been featured several times on a Park City Main Street Instagram page. I was also invited to visit with the US Ski Team at their incredible facilities in Park City and am hopeful that I will be able to do some work for them.
Outside of those ski paintings, I have messed around with other types of art but my main focus has been commissioned art. Mainly portraits, sports art, and pets. For 13 years now, I have been honored to work with the University of Utah’s softball team in drawing their senior players at the end of each season. I have worked with other local schools as well.
The things that drive me to continue to be creative are my love for art, my passion to share my talent with others, and my amazing customers who continue to come back to me and tell me how much their original piece means to them.
I look forward to sending you some artwork. Please let me know what questions you have, and what ideas you have for my work. I would love to work with you. Thanks so much!
Justin
